Q&A With Guadalupe Garza
Why did you decide to start offering mentoring sessions?
I’ve always believed in helping others by sharing my knowledge in any way I can. I personally love seeing fellow creatives grow and be successful. Over the past couple of years many photographers have reached out asking questions about photography, editing, business, etc. and I figured it was time to structure things and make the time to help others.
What will your mentees gain in each mentoring session?
The one-hour-long sessions will be structured based on what the mentee is wanting to learn and discuss. They will complete a questionnaire ahead of time so we can make the most use of our time. Some topics for discussions that we can have in person or over zoom include:
I will also be available for in-person coaching during a mentee’s photography session. I will show up to assist and provide feedback onsite as he or she creates images. Onsite I will help with compositions, lighting, and workflow. These sessions can be 1-3 hours long depending on the photography session.
How long are the mentoring sessions?
Is there a minimum of sessions required?
There is no minimum requirement at the moment but we do encourage at least three sessions so mentees can make the most out of the program with follow-ups as I often see photographers have a lot of questions after having discussions together.
How much is each mentoring session?
Since my primary goal through this mentoring program is to help elevate the work of photographers and creators wanting to grow professionally, I’m keeping the cost at a very affordable point.
Each one-hour session will be $150 and can take place over zoom or in person in the Dallas-Fort Worth area over coffee. For mentoring sessions during a photography shoot, the fee is $250 per hour.
