Thailand Launches Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival to Mark Pride Month

Thailand Launches Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival to Mark Pride Month

The Royal Thai Government launched the “Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival (Pride Month)”, a nationwide celebration taking place throughout June in honour of global Pride Month. The campaign reinforces Thailand’s image as an inclusive and welcoming travel destination.
Presiding over the official launch, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, stated: “This festival is more than a celebration—it is a reflection of our national values. Thailand stands proudly for human rights, gender equality, and the freedom to love. With marriage equality now the law of the land, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusion and send a clear message to the world: everyone is welcome here.”

Is Florida’s newly-opened Universal EPIC Universe worth the £103 entry fee?

May 29, 2025 by Louie Alma Photography No Comments

Is Florida’s newly-opened Universal EPIC Universe worth the £103 entry fee?

Five years since the exciting announcement in August 2019, the wait is over, finally; Universal has just opened its fourth theme park in Orlando, Florida, on May 22 – Universal EPIC Universe.

The Chronos and all five immersive worlds are open to the public. I got a special preview inside before the gates opened to see if it is worth the £103 ($139) entry fee, with the price of the ticket varying with time of year and peak seasons.

I break down each world and how to get the most for your money.

Celestial Park

Celestial Park

Celestial Park

As you travel through the chronos, you are met with a tranquil environment where streams of water flow through the pathways, making their way to the playful fountains, which spontaneously dance throughout the day with immersive show moments. Home to the magnificent views of each entry portal to the other worlds, my favourite part has to be Stardust Racers.

A dual-launch rollercoaster that reaches speeds of 62 mph as it sends riders rocketing along its 5,000 feet of track to heights of 133 feet. The thrilling part, besides the speed? The “Celestial Spin”, where the two vehicles perform an inverted crisscross.

Celestial Park - Pizza Moon

There are some great restaurants at Celestial Park. Splash out in Atlantic, an exceptional seafood and steak restaurant or opt for out-of-this-world pizzas at Pizza Moon – I recommend the Pizza Lunare that comes with a surprising purple celestial ube crust. Or, fine-dine in The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant, which boasts amazing Asian delicacies to refuel your energy levels.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic

The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter – Ministry Of Magic

Universal have opened its third in the Wizarding World franchise, where this time visitors are transported to 1920s Paris. The standout of not just this world, but in my opinion, the whole park has to be the incredible Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride. In this, brand new technology was created to produce a ride that is like no other.

Other things to do in the world involves taking a break from the sun as you take a seat in the brilliant Le Cirque Arcanus show, where Ringmaster Skender steals Newt Scamander’s briefcase. Bag yourself a wand in Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique and make your way around the world performing magical spells at specific destinations. Sip away with a cold Butterbeer, or indulge in an EPIC-exclusive Butterbeer Crepe that can be found within Café L’air De La Sirène for $19.99.

How To Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk (Hiccup’s Wing Gliders)

How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk (Hiccup’s Wing Gliders)

My second favourite area of the theme park has to be Isle of Berk, where you’re submerged into the world of dragons and Vikings. Whilst it may seem that it is catered more to families, this is suitable for anyone of any age. From meeting the stars of the movies, Hiccup and Toothless, you are also introduced to more gigantic animatronic dragons to interact with.

My favourite attraction in this world has to be the brilliant stage show: The Untrainable Dragon, which rivals West End shows with its production value. Followed by Hop Hiccups Wing Gliders, a family friendly smooth rollercoaster which packs punches of speeds with twists and turns as your soar around the Isle of Berk. Grab one of the viral Mac & Cheese bread cones from Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel, or sit down at the giant Mead Hall to indulge in tasty culinary creations.

Dark Universe

Dark Universe

Dark Universe

Step into the world of Universal’s beloved monsters, including Dracula and Frankenstein’s Monster, as you enter the spooky village of Darkmoor. Tour through the world, stopping off at Das Stakehaus for an impressive dining encounter, or become one of the monsters with the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience.

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment may be Universal Orlando’s most terrifying and intense ride yet, as you come face-to-face with 14 impressive animatronics. I recommend leaving this world as one of the last, as it’s better experienced in the dark.

Super Nintendo World

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD - Mario Kart_ Bowser’s Challenge

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD – Mario Kart_ Bowser’s Challenge

Prepare for a sensory overload as you travel into the world of Super Nintendo. After riding Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure, head to Donkey Kong Country, making Universal EPIC Universe the only theme park outside of Universal Studios Japan to have this world. Mine-Cart Madness puts optical illusions to the test as you travel along broken tracks, dramatic drops and speed surges, explaining why it’s a firm favourite.

Compete with friends and/or family to score the highest points on your interactive Power-Up bands as you tap away on the special stamps, character interactions, rides and iconic coin boxes around the world.

Buying Tickets

You have to buy tickets through the app or once you’re in Florida. However, a way to save money when purchasing your tickets is to purchase a Universal Orlando 3 Park Explorer Ticket for endless access to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay for 14 days, from £344 (depending on the time of year).

You can add a one-day ticket to Universal EPIC Universe for an extra £100 by selecting an exact date on which you wish to visit the park, as you can’t currently walk in.Universal Orlando Resort All Parks Tickets are also available through British Airways Holidays from £439pp.

A better way to maximise your time in the park is by staying in one of the hotels close to the park, with your choice of three that all all within minutes. From Stella Nova, a three-star resort which is a short 15-minute walk, to the dazzling new hotel, Universal Helios Grand Hotel, which is located within the park itself. Here you can get early entry to the park, alongside other benefits. See below for deals from British Airways Holidays for the best offers.

VERDICT:  Universal has truly outdone itself with this new theme park. Spending an estimated £7 billion, no detail has been overlooked to create a captivating atmosphere for attendees of all ages. This is a theme park for everyone, not just children and is absolutely worth the fee.

The Best Places to Visit in Spain During the Shoulder Period

May 29, 2025 by Louie Alma Photography No Comments

The Best Places to Visit in Spain During the Shoulder Period

Spain’s shoulder seasons, from March to June and September to October, are frequently bypassed by mass holidaymakers who focus on the peak summer months. However, they are a treasure trove of the most rewarding experiences for those in the know who are experienced travellers. The temperatures are moderate, UV indexes are within control and there are fewer crowds to contend with, making it a better time to appreciate the country’s stunning vistas, rich cultural sites and local dishes free from the regular commotion.

Whether you’re walking through cobblestone city centres or sunbathing on a beach, the shoulder season allows you to escape the sweltering heat while still soaking up brilliant sunshine. While coastal areas are comfortably warm, interiors shed that burning summer bite, offering a perfect balance for diverse vacation styles. Whether you’re a person who seeks sun but dislikes scorching heat and humidity, Holidu, the holiday rental portal, has researched the places in Spain with the best weather.

España’s Sunniest Secret Coast

Almería is one of the warmest and driest cities in Spain, particularly during the shoulder season. With mid-20s Celsius (mid-70s Fahrenheit) average daily highs and low humidity, Almería makes a perfect beach vacation in the off-season.

Set along the southeastern coast, Almería boasts the stunning Alcazaba fortress—a Moorish citadel with spectacular views of the city. The vibrant old quarter is full of layers of history and just nearby are some of Spain’s most pristine beaches. Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, within easy driving distance, dishes out dramatic volcanic scenery and protected coves where you can swim or hike without the crowds.

For travellers looking to coordinate their visit to Spain’s most beautiful and weather-friendly sites, Almería is a surprisingly quiet yet potent contender.

Luxury in a Secluded Paradise

Tied to summer glamour and glitz, Marbella, in the shoulder season, becomes a chilled-out yet refined holiday destination. Balmy sea winds characterise spring and autumn, with fewer crowds and average temperatures in the low to mid-20s Celsius.

Old Town Marbella is a quaint jumble of cobbled walkways and flower-filled squares. It’s not so hard to find a seat at a café and sit back to see the world pass by in shoulder months. Puerto Banús’s flashy yachts and upscale boutiques are less showy and more indulgent. The relaxed atmosphere makes it possible to have real contact with locals and also see improved service in restaurants and shops.

Most travellers fail to appreciate how shoulder season enhances the holiday experience overall, even aside from the warmer, more comfortable weather, life in the area slows down to a mellower pace.

Mallorca’s Balearic Charm in Spring and Autumn

Mallorca is not solely the domain of summer holidays. The island prospers during the shoulder season, with daytime temperatures in the mid-20s Celsius and gentle sea winds making sightseeing a pleasure, making it comfortable to explore. While pondering how to switch between mountain and beach time before sweltering in the sun, Mallorca in spring or autumn could be just the place.

Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the island, is full of Gothic architecture, vibrant markets and hip restaurants. Cross over to the Cathedral of Santa Maria and then wander through the narrow streets of the old city or stroll down to a seaside restaurant along the harbour. The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, meanwhile, offers cooler temperatures for hiking, with trails that wind through villages built hundreds of years ago, hillside terraces and lush forests.

If you’re still trying to choose between locations in Spain that have the best weather and the richest cultural lives, Mallorca must top your list.

A Cultural Hub Without the Heat

Zaragoza tends to pass under the radar of overseas travellers, yet those who know recognise its strategic—and climatic—benefits. It is approximately halfway from Madrid to Barcelona and enjoys a warm but comfortable climate in spring and autumn.

It proudly displays its history. It’s possible to walk through the vast Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a beautiful baroque church situated on the banks of the River Ebro, or through the Aljafería Palace, a nicely preserved medieval Muslim palace converted into a Christian fortress. Museums, bustling plazas and open-air markets give the city life year-round, but in the shoulder season, that’s when you’ll discover the most enjoyable rhythm.

If you are interested in learning how forex trading works, for instance and fancy a bit of reading over a coffee in the sun, Zaragoza’s outdoor cafés are the perfect place to indulge in it.

Why Shoulder Season Wins

With Spain’s varied geography, the climate varies significantly from region to region. Yet, in the shoulder season, many areas reach the sweet spot—if warm enough to appreciate, cool enough to discover and dry enough to preclude trip interruptions. From seaside escapes in Almería and Marbella to cultural hubs in Córdoba and Zaragoza, Spain offers numerous locations with optimal weather for a sophisticated and leisurely vacation.

As travellers become increasingly savvy, the trend of shoulder season holidays is poised to continue growing. Skipping the hottest of summers and still catching rays? That’s a win-win for any vacationer.

Whether you’re travelling just a few days or taking a more extended getaway, these cities have the perfect climate, rich experiences and authentic character, meaning shoulder season is the best time to visit Spain.

St Tropez: Villas not Hotels are where the Jet Set Holiday

St Tropez: Villas not Hotels are where the Jet Set Holiday

Made famous in the ‘50s by the actress Brigitte Bardot, this little bit of France is still known for attracting the rich and famous. With its shops along the quay, super yachts moored in the harbour, and designer shops in the back streets St. Tropez itself is ‘the’ chic place to chill out on the Côte d’Azur.

A paradise for those who can afford it, instead of staying in hotels, the more affluent, particularly during the peak seasons of July and August, rent villas with family and friends. With the sun shining and the weather hot enough to go swimming in April, I was hosted by StTropezHouse, an agency that specialises in renting out high-end properties, to experience what it’s like to stay in a villa.

Villa Alkmene, La Croix Valmer

Villa Alkmene, La Croix Valmer, built on the side of a cliff

One of the area’s biggest problems is its accessibility. Although there are motorways from Nice, the smaller roads near to the coast get jammed with traffic. Fortunately, many of the villas have helicopter pads, and despite the government imposing a ban on the times they can be used, this circumvents the problem of sitting in traffic.

All the villas have heated private swimming pools and, depending on where they are, access to a nearby beach. Each unique, but my favourite has to be the newly built Villa Alkmene for its design and décor, built up the side of a cliff with a swimming pool that mimics the colour of the sea.

Villa Ama, Pampelonne, Ramatuelle

Villa Ama, Pampelonne,

The Villa Ama at Pampelonne Beach, where I stayed, has extensive grounds, and with a white decor, provides a background for its owner’s impressive collection of contemporary art.

Paintings and sculptures are by famous artists such as Jeff Koons, Ron Arad, and Damien Hirst. My bedroom had a painting by Alex Prager. Equally impressive was the floor-to-ceiling mirror in front of my bed, which, using a remote control, became a television. I had only to press a button to close the blinds and curtains. Working out how to do this was my biggest problem! The villa is also dog-friendly which, as a dog owner, is a bonus.

Chanel bag

Chanel bag

Buying art seems to be the latest trend for the affluent and StTropezHouse works with specialists who can advise on buying art.

In St Tropez itself, the Bel-Air Fine Art gallery has an impressive selection of art and sculptures. A very lifelike copy of a Chanel bag made in Calacatta gold marble by Andrea Valsecchi caught my eye.

For those who want to be seen and to see who’s around Beach Clubs are ‘the place’ to go. Although not membership based, they are difficult to get into particularly in high season where an introduction by the agency, unless already known to them, is essential in getting a table, as it is for any of the popular restaurants and night clubs.

Tuna Tagliata, Nikki Beach

Boutiques selling the latest in sea-side fashion tempted me in as I walked to our table at Nikki Beach. Overlooking a large swimming pool, and with DJs playing the latest music, a party-style atmosphere was created as we sipped exotic cocktails and ate beautifully presented food that tasted equally delicious.

Facilities

Many of the villas are staffed with housekeepers, cooks, butlers, and gardeners. Everything for a worry-free holiday.

Gym

Gym

Facilities vary but usually include a heated swimming pool. Often there is a gym, sauna or hammam, and massage space. Some have pétanque lawns, and children’s play areas. At Domain Louise, which consists of a grand house with another six villas on the property, there is a vegetable garden where guests can help themselves to produce. Villa Ana, as well as its extensive art collection, has a state-of-the art outdoor cinema and bar while Villa Alkmene has a car at the disposal of guests. At Domaine Rouillère, the bastide (country house) in the middle of acres of vineyards, has a wine production facility on site.

What’s Nearby

The market selling fresh produce, clothes, and local souvenirs takes place on Tuesday and Saturday in the square behind St. Tropez harbour. On other days, the market moves along the coast.

How Much

Villas range in size from three to eleven bedrooms with prices starting at €30,000 up to €430,000 a week. Many are off-markets and can only be rented through the agency. These mega expensive places, out of season, can be rented for a lot less than the asking price. StTropezHouse also provides a concierge service.
