The 81st International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) convened in New Delhi, marking a significant return to India after over four decades. The summit spotlighted the aviation industry’s trajectory towards growth, its commitment to sustainability, and the unique challenges faced across different regions.

The ATM Travel Trends Report 2025, by Arabian Travel Market and Tourism Economics, forecasts a 50% rise in Middle East travel spending by 2030. Inbound travel is expected to grow 13% annually from 2025 to 2030, driven by markets in Asia and Africa. Business and luxury travel are also expanding as the region emerges as a global hub for sports and entertainment.

The Middle East continues to emerge as a global aviation powerhouse, thanks to a confluence of favorable geography, government support, and significant infrastructure investment. According to Willie Walsh, Director-General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the region’s success is the result of strategic coordination between governments and airlines, robust infrastructure development, and the creation of both strong hub connectivity and origin-destination traffic.
