Golf Guide to Limassol Greens, Limassol, Cyprus
Sitting in the serene landscape of southern Cyprus, Limassol Greens is a new development where luxury living and sporting leisure come together in the natural beauty of the Mediterranean. The centre piece is the 18-hole Championship golf course, situated right next to the five-star resort City of Dreams, Mediterranean.
Originally a verdant citrus farm, dating back to the 1930’s, the course only opened for business at the beginning of December. Although it’s now completely operational, it does feel brand new with an array of feature ponds, olive and carob trees, all set to grow higher and higher. You feel right among nature here with the largest salt lake on the island just adjacent.

The opening of the championship course represents a major step in the plan for Limassol Greens. Alongside golf, it will feature luxury residences, wellness facilities, dining and leisure amenities, designed to international standards. When complete, visitors can expect a mix of 500 villas and 250 apartments, designed in Mediterranean inspired architecture that blends the modern with the traditional.
The course was designed by acclaimed golf architect Cabell B. Robinson and the soundtrack to a round of golf is the rustling of fragrant leaves of olive and citrus trees With scenic views of the bordering wetland and forest, spreading over 6000 square metres, the par-71 course features generously shaped fairways, smooth greens, and strategic bunkers.
The first five holes are shaped by prevailing wind, but from the 6th to 11th holes, the wind shifts in the player’s favour. The holes from the 13th to the 15th demand control and creativity. The final stretch raises the challenge, culminating in a tough par-5 on the 16th, played into the wind; a par-3 on the 17th that demands precision and a sweeping 18th hole played around a natural lake, towards a long narrow green.
First Golf Lesson
I’m a golf novice so am happy to have a coaching session from Mike Leitch. He meets me in the Roost Lounge Bar inside the new clubhouse and leads me out to the driving range. There are 30 state of the art practice bays, each equipped with Trackman Technology for precise swing and performance analysis. All well and good but I’m not sure I can even make contact with the ball.
Mike hands me a club, and before I do anything, he makes me watch as he takes me through the basics. Demonstrating he says it’s all about three moves: “Away, down and through!” This is a mantra which he repeats several times so I don’t forget. For someone who’s never ever hit a ball, it makes some sort of sense as I ready myself to take the plunge.

Surprisingly, I do make contact on my first try, although the ball skims across the grass, rather than soaring into the sky. Mike corrects my position by pushing the club closer to the ground and twisting it slightly so it hits the ball square. By the third attemp,t I’m doing my best Tiger Woods impersonation. All this unfamiliar exercise means I soon begin to tire, and then it’s all downhill from here.
I can see my hotel, City of Dreams Mediterranean, just across the fairway. After some much needed refreshment in the Clubhouse, I retreat back to their spa for a wonderful soothing massage. Since they’re so close the hotel has entered into a collaboration with Limassol Greens. They’re offering exclusive golf packages for international hotel guests which combine world-class hospitality with top class sport.
Beyond the resort, the nearby city of Limassol offers a rich culinary scene that reflects Cyprus’s blend of Greek, Middle Eastern, and international flavours. You can enjoy fresh seafood and traditional meze at waterfront tavernas, sip locally produced wines in atmospheric courtyards, or indulge in high-end dining in Limassol’s Old Town and marina area.
Whether you’re a golfer seeking a new challenge, a wellness traveller craving rejuvenation, or a holidaymaker drawn to Mediterranean charm, Limassol Greens is a destination that feels both exclusive and inviting. It’s a place where you can tee off on a world-class golf course at dawn, unwind in luxurious comfort by dusk, and explore ancient history and vibrant city life in between.
