The OG washable rug brand Ruggable has teamed up with Morris & Co to bring to life unfinished William Morris sketches, marking the first original William Morris designs in more than 150 years.

Ruggable is one of the best places to buy a rug if you’re looking for something that is both stylish and practical. The brand is famous for its washable rugs as well as its frequent collaborations with designers and famous brands.

This is not the brand’s first collection with Morris & Co, they are already one of the best places to buy William Morris homeware. However, while previous collections have focused on the classic William Morris prints we all know and love, such as Strawberry Thief and Pimpernel, this new range is based on unfinished designs that you might not has seen before.

Unfinished sketches from Morris and his studio were uncovered in the archives of the Huntington Library in California, and what followed is a 26-piece exclusive collection from Morris & Co and Ruggable. What is it called? The Unfinished Works Collection.

These unfinished designs gave designers a glimpse into the thought process of the iconic Arts and Crafts designer and how his iconic prints came to be. The Morris & Co design studio hand-painted and completed the designs, which you can now welcome into your home via a statement rug.

As you’d expect, the collection has brought together botanical motifs, a rich colour palette and plenty of intricate detailing. Morris & Co’s signature green colourway acts as an anchor colour throughout the collection.

My top pick is the Daisy & Oak Natural Rug in floral green and blue, which is so beautifully detailed, I’m itching to get in my home and incorporated into my bedroom ideas. With bursts of pink and red blooms over blue and green foliage, it is quintessentially William Morris, and despite being one of the archived designs, it looks wonderfully familiar.

Prices start at £109 to £1,049, and owning a Ruggable rug myself ( I have the Sonia Terra & Sage Rug in my living room), I can vouch that the quality is excellent, and they’re really easy to keep clean, making it worth the price in my opinion.

I don’t know about you, but where I live, it suddenly seems to have become autumn.

Only a week ago, I was hot, sweaty, and struggling to sleep during the latest summer heatwave, and now overnight temperatures have dropped to just 6°C, and it’s suddenly chilly when the sun goes down.

Little wonder, then, that savvy M&S shoppers are already snapping up the brand’s latest launch: the £20 M&S Brushed Cotton Striped Bedding Set.

Soft, cosy, and selling out in record time last year, I think this is the autumn bedding to snap up now, before the cold weather really hits, and this budget-friendly buy disappears from the shelves.

When it comes to where to buy bedding, M&S is always one of my top recommendations. However, I always think it’s the brand’s winter bedding that really hits the mark.

Last year, Marks & Spencer nailed one of the winter’s biggest bedding trends with a sell-out brushed bedding collection that was one of the most stylish – and most affordable – ranges on the high street. And it looks like this year is going to follow suit.

The brand has just quietly dropped the first few lines of its autumn 2026 bedding collection, and this brushed cotton bedding set is already being snapped up by shoppers.

In fact, it’s one of the most shopped bedding sets on the M&S website right now, according to the brand’s on-site data.

I’m not surprised this set duvet cover and pillowcase set is proving so popular. To my mind, it nails the look and feel that many of us are craving after one of the hottest summers on record.

I, for one, can’t wait for some cooler weather, and this is one of the first years I’m actually looking forward to getting cosy in bed as the nights draw in.

The best brushed cotton bedding is perfect for creating those cosy-core vibes. Plus, M&S has upped the cosy vibes even further by combining this tactile flannelette fabric with a traditional ticking stripe.

For me at least, the overall effect feels nostalgic, comforting, and a bit like being tucked up into bed at a favourite Nan or Grandma’s house!

The striped collection is available in four autumnal shades: fern green, slate blue, dove grey, and a neutral linen colourway. And right now, they’re all still in stock.

However, I have a feeling they won’t stay that way. Especially once the cooler weather really hits. If last year is anything to go by, I imagine sizes will start disappearing fast.

Personally, I can’t imagine any cosier bedding to hunker down under this autumn. That said, M&S does have some more great winter-warmers beginning to land on site and in-store. I’ve rounded up a few more new-season favourites below.

It’s no secret the Ideal Home team loves Primark’s home department, and I find myself frequently checking the brand’s website so no star buy goes unnoticed. Primark’s new ‘Heritage Chic’ collection should not go unnoticed – these six buys in particular look so expensive.

Heritage Chic is here to nail autumn’s biggest home decor trends. Packed with earthy tones, plenty of stripes and floral designs, it balances cosy and classic decor perfectly. If you’re a little fed up with bold summer prints, this Primark collection is the grown-up, expensive-looking alternative.

So, I’ve rounded up my top picks from the collection that I would choose to make my home look more expensive in time for the new season.

In July, Primark’s autumn collection had us excited for the changing season, and Heritage Chic is a continuation of this feeling – with minimal pumpkins.

While pumpkins are a classic autumn decorating idea, they don’t have much longevity and are only really suitable for display for three months of the year. What Primark’s Heritage Chic range succeeds in is delivering an autumnal colour palette without relying on stereotypical motifs – although there are still a few pumpkins available at Primark if that’s what you’re looking for.

For example, Primark’s Floral Tablecloth With Ric Rac Trim (£10) has a cosy, autumnal colour palette, but its pretty floral motifs mean it can be used all year round. It reminds me of hedgerows at the start of autumn and is perfect for giving your dining table that classic cottage look.

Unfortunately, Primark do not offer home delivery, and if you don’t have a store local to you don’t worry, as I’ve rounded up a few more seasonal favourites you can shop online.

If you want to give your home an autumnal update on a budget this month, look no further than Primark.

This hot, dry summer (and the promise of more extreme weather in the years to come) has had me thinking constantly about the importance of shade over the past few months. And it’s not just me following this line of thinking either, as estate agents say that shade is becoming a more desired quality for buyers, too – and that an awning might just be the thing that helps you sell your home in 2027.

I’ll preface by saying that while an awning won’t make your home more valuable per se, it is a garden shade idea that will improve your home’s appeal to buyers and even help you sell it.

While it’s far too soon to say exactly what effect a desire for shade will have on the housing market just yet, I’ve spoken to multiple estate agents and experts who have all told me the same thing – features such as awnings are only becoming more and more desirable.

Why buyers are seeking shade:

In July, the Met Office reported in the latest edition of the State of the UK Climate report that extreme weather, such as the heatwaves we’ve experienced this summer, would become increasingly common in the UK. And it is this promise of hotter summers that has already impacted our home buying preferences, according to estate agents.

‘After the recent run of hot summers, buyers are asking questions about how a property handles heat that they simply did not ask five years ago. A south-facing garden used to be an unambiguous positive. Now buyers are asking about shade, about what the patio is like in the afternoon and whether the house stays cool. Shade-creating features are moving from a nice-to-have to a genuine consideration for a growing number of buyers,’ comments Katie Cromwell, founder and director of Swansea-based estate agents No. 86 Estate Agency.

Given that the majority of this year’s garden trends have revolved around climate-resilient gardens and water harvesting, it is arguably a little unsurprising that sun sails, pergolas and awnings have also increased in popularity.

‘An awning is unlikely to add a fixed percentage to a property’s value in the same way that an extra bedroom or a high-quality extension might. However, it can certainly add to a home’s appeal and help it stand out when it comes to selling. A well-designed awning or pergola can make a garden, terrace or patio feel like a genuine extension of the living space, while also providing practical shade, reflecting heat before it reaches windows and potentially reducing indoor temperature by five to ten degrees Celsius This makes the property an overall more comfortable place to be during periods of hot weather,’ Luke Saywell, partner at Nottinghamshire family estate agents Gascoines said.

‘Ultimately, I think shade will become a more recognised quality in UK homes. As summers become hotter, buyers are likely to think increasingly about not just how warm and energy-efficient a property is in winter, but how comfortable it will be in summer. Awnings and pergolas are relatively simple ways of improving that balance, while also making gardens and outdoor spaces more usable.’

Will an awnining increase the value of your home?

While an awning or a well-thought-out pergola idea can make your home more attractive to potential buyers, it is far too soon to see any conclusive data to prove it will boost your home’s value as well. In fact, some experts argue that a general garden makeover won’t make much of a difference to your home’s value anyway.

‘According to Go.Compare’s home renovation calculator, on average, a garden makeover only increases property value by an estimated 1%. They cost £9,500 and add just £2,850 in value, resulting in an average loss of £6,650,’ states Nathan Blackler, expert at Go.Compare home insurance.

‘Features such as pergolas and awnings are unlikely to hugely increase a property’s value on their own, but with summers getting hotter, many homeowners are looking for ways to make their gardens more comfortable during prolonged periods of high temperatures.

‘Therefore, buyers are increasingly looking for homes that offer usable outdoor living areas, and shade can form an important part of that, particularly during warmer weather as we look to spend more time outside safely. They’re already a popular sight in many parts of Europe, where providing shade from the sun has long been a practical consideration, and we could see more homeowners investing in similar solutions here.’

So while an awning won’t exactly put extra zeros on your home’s value, it is becoming a more sought-after feature. Plus, an awning can make your garden a more comfortable place for you, as well as appealing to buyers.

‘As UK summers become more reliably warm and buyers factor thermal comfort into property decisions, the features that manage heat are going to feel increasingly necessary rather than optional. We are at the early stages of a genuine shift in how buyers think about sun exposure and shade,’ Katie concludes.
